Dr. Cyriacus Obinali Agbarakwe holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Organizational Leadership, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a Master of Arts (MA) in Conflict Analysis & Management, and a PhD in Apologetics. He graduated in law from the University of Jos, Nigeria, and furthered his studies at Oxford Graduate School (now Omega Graduate School) – American Centre for Integration of Religion and Society. Dr. Agbarakwe earned his MA in Conflict Analysis & Management from Royal Roads University, British Columbia, Canada, and his EdD in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
Dr. Agbarakwe is an online adjunct professor at the University of the People in Pasadena, California. He also serves as a content expert for doctoral students at various universities, focusing on organizational leadership with a particular interest in followership. His scholarly pursuits are centered on the emerging field of followership, specifically investigating how the manner in which individuals follow (serve) can predict their leadership styles.
Until recently, Dr. Agbarakwe actively practiced law in Ottawa, Canada, specializing in judicial review, immigration appeals, humanitarian applications, and refugee claims. He is currently a non-practicing member of the Law Society of Ontario and a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, though he is no longer in active practice.
Dr. Agbarakwe has an extensive background in human rights and community service. He worked with the Community Law Centre (CLC) in Durban, South Africa, providing paralegal training and voter education in rural KwaZulu-Natal before the first general election. He interned with the International Human Rights Program of the Institute of International Education in the United States and served as the Executive Officer (Administrative Secretary) of the Human Rights Association of Swaziland (HUMARAS), sponsored by USAID.
A respected community leader, Dr. Agbarakwe has served as vice president of the Nigerian Canadian Cultural Association and held three terms as president of the Igbo Cultural Association in Canada. He was the Constituency Chair of the Edmonton-Millwoods Progressive Conservatives from 2008 to 2012.
Dr. Agbarakwe is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Fellowship of Igbo Christians, the founder and General Overseer of the Oasis of Love and Miracles Canada, and the founder of the Mother Dorathy Children Centre in Nigeria and Canada. In 2023, he received the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Award from the Province of Alberta, Canada. He is also the author of “What About Witches and Other Stories.”
